Pilot project in collaboration with the Post Office
In October, TEXAID will begin a pilot project with the Swiss Post Office in Luzern Canton. For a whole month, it will be possible to hand in sacks of used clothing to the postman doing his daily rounds. The used clothes will then be passed on to TEXAID.
Unwanted clothes and shoes can be put into a tear-resistant sack, which should be securely tied closed and left next to the mailbox. If the postman has already collected a lot of clothing sacks and no longer has any spare capacity, the sack will be collected on the next working day. This service will be available in Luzern Canton from Monday to Friday every week throughout the entire month of October.
TEXAID will then take delivery of the collected used textiles and ensure that they are recycled in an ecologically sound and professional way. This will enable valuable resources to be conserved and the environmental impact to be significantly reduced.
After the pilot phase, a decision will be made about whether this service will then be continued.
