Sewing courses for refugees: TEXAID provides used jeans
The Social Fabric Association has been offering open sewing courses for refugees in Zurich since 2015. TEXAID has now donated used jeans to enable the organisation to implement a range of projects.
The aim of Social Fabric is to show people how to make their own clothing and accessories. They are assisted by volunteers and by the Social Fabric team. From August of this year, the organisation will also start offering participants the opportunity to follow an EBA vocational training course to obtain a qualification as a clothing tailor. This apprenticeship is intended predominantly for people with a migrant background.
The jeans made available to the organisation by TEXAID will now be made into various upcycling products such as toilet bags, rucksacks or other types of bag.
