TEXAID reduces CO2 emissions
Things have been happening since Swiss Climate bestowed the Gold Label «CO2 Neutral» award on TEXAID in April 2015.
This is because the award carries with it a commitment to continuously implement effective measures to reduce greenhouse gases. According to the latest data, just a year after the certification TEXAID’s work already results in 7.1 percent less CO2 per tonne of collected used textiles.
The measures implemented arose from daily practice. Some are linked to investments, others can be realized through environmentally-responsible actions in the daily work process. The standard printing method used is double-sided, and only on environmentally-friendly recycled paper. The red & white TEXAID sacks are now partly made using recycling granulate. Energy-efficient hand dryers are replacing paper towels, the TEXAID headquarters with the sorting facility runs 100 percent on green electricity, and a fast-closing roller shutter door in the sorting hall prevents greater energy loss.
