Things have been happening since Swiss Climate bestowed the Gold Label «CO₂ Neutral» award on TEXAID in April 2015.

This is because the award carries with it a commitment to continuously implement effective measures to reduce greenhouse gases. According to the latest data, just a year after the certification TEXAID’s work already results in 7.1 percent less CO₂ per tonne of collected used textiles.

The measures implemented arose from daily practice. Some are linked to investments, others can be realized through environmentally-responsible actions in the daily work process. The standard printing method used is double-sided, and only on environmentally-friendly recycled paper. The red & white TEXAID sacks are now partly made using recycling granulate. Energy-efficient hand dryers are replacing paper towels, the TEXAID headquarters with the sorting facility runs 100 percent on green electricity, and a fast-closing roller shutter door in the sorting hall prevents greater energy loss.
