Used clothes collections with the Swiss Post Office as a logistics service-provider
In October of last year, Texaid and the Swiss Post Office together ran a pilot project collecting used clothes in Luzern Canton. In response to the positive feedback from the local population and the satisfying analyses in terms of an ecological service being provided, the Swiss Post Office and TEXAID have decided to continue with this collaboration on a long-term basis.
Ecological collection thanks to synergies
In recent months, TEXAID has evaluated its various collection systems on the basis of ecological and economic criteria and has reached the conclusion that street collections in particular no longer meet these requirements, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas. For that reason, TEXAID was intensively looking for an appropriate substitute for the current street collection method. The pilot project with the Post Office has shown that this collection method meets requirements. Thanks to the synergies with the Post Office, there are no empty runs because used clothes collections are combined with mail deliveries.
TEXAID is pleased that with this collaboration, it can continue to offer a method of collection that represents a welcome service, particularly for people with limited mobility.
