Sustainability Report 2017

IDENTIFICATION OF KEY ISSUES TEXAID must work closely with its stakeholders to achieve its goal of a sustainable textile life cycle that extends beyond its own value chain. The company has therefore identified – both from internal workshops in association with Swiss Climate AG and external surveys – the topics that carry the most weight for TEXAID and its stakeholders in the three areas of sustainability (social, economic, and environmental). According to the evaluation, charitable donations and resource efficiency are the two most crucial issues. The importance of charitable donations can be largely explained by TEXAID’s relief agencies, and the fact that TEXAID was founded by charitable organizations. Meanwhile, the significance of resource and energy efficiency and climate and environmental factors can be put down to the company's operational activi- ties and sustainability strategy. These key issues are also outlined in TEXAID’s “Strategy 2020.” The key issues in the above chart concern all the TEXAID companies and processing steps examined in the sustainability report. This means that each area is actively considered within the scope of the overall corporate strategy, as well as in light of findings from the company’s strategy workshops. Strategic mea- sures for individual departments are derived from the overall corporate strategy (see page 55, “Overview of Objectives and Measures"). 13 stakeholder importance Legend | environmental issues | social issues | economic/social issues high medium medium high impact energy efficiency occupational safety & health protection charitable donations resource efficiency climate & environmental factors employee development Key issues
